Poem: WE CAN DO IT by Gad Brighton

They used to say we are leaders of tomorrow
But somebody said imagine if tomorrow never comes
What kind of leaders would be all of us?
They preserve us for the future,
while they are destroying our present.
They preserve us for the future,
while they forget their past.
They preserve us for the future,
the future that seems to be uncertain,
unpredictable and they say we are incredible.
It’s time to say no, no and no.
It’s time to say no to those politicians,
Who manipulate us,
at the time of elections.
It’s time to say no,
to those who think we young people can’t rule.
It’s time to say no,
because we young people can do it.
Let’s all say we can do it.

It’s time to say no,
to those who say we are unable to do it.
We are the workforce for the country’s development
(we can do it)
Let’s be agents of change in our community
(we can do it)
Let’s promote peace, reconciliation and conflict resolution
(we can do it)
Let’s promote education for all, gender-equality and human rights
(we can do it)
